When you are backpacking you are typically walking around a lot and exploring different parts of the city you are in. You need food to keep your energy up for all of your activities. So let’s take a look at some of the best restaurants in Bogota. These are just a few to choose from. There are hundreds of great places to eat.
Some of these places are only open for lunch, so check their opening times before you head out.
Also note that you may need to book in advance and you should probably clean up a bit and wear some decent clothes for a few of these restaurants.
Just a Few of the Best Restaurants in Bogota
La Puerta Falsa
This restaurant holds the distinction of being the oldest dining establishment in Bogota, having opened its doors to the public in 1816. Nestled in the charming Candelaria neighborhood, it is a quaint, albeit small, venue where securing a table often involves waiting in line. The communal tables are situated on a mezzanine level, which, although charming, can become quite warm as it absorbs the heat from the kitchen below. The menu highlights include ajiaco, tamales, and hot chocolate served with bread and cheese. Interestingly, the cheese is meant to be dipped in the hot chocolate. Ask your server for the proper way to prepare it.
La Puerta de la Catedral
Located just a few doors away from La Puerta Falsa, La Puerta de la Catedral boasts a spacious and well-lit interior, avoiding the stifling heat. While they also serve classic dishes like ajiaco, tamales, and hot chocolate with cheese, their extensive menu offers a variety of other options for those seeking more choices. Personally, I found this place highly appealing, and in the future, I would undoubtedly prefer it over its smaller yet more famous neighbor!

Best Sushi and Asian Food
Some of the best restaurants in Bogota exist because people from other countries have brought their amazing cuisine with them and opened eateries.
Takuma Cocina Show
Takuma, situated in the Quinta Camacho neighborhood, not only satisfies your taste buds with delicious Teppanyaki-style Japanese cuisine but also provides an entertaining dining experience featuring flames, juggling, and even Samurai swords! Requesting the full experience upon entry ensures you’ll have your own grill and chef. Throughout the cooking process, the staff will inquire about your preferred seasoning and sauce levels, as well as any allergies you may have. I highly recommend trying the Takuma Evolución dish—a delectable fusion of pork, bacon, pineapple, and rice, followed by shrimps in basil sauce.
WOK
A widely favored choice for Asian cuisine in Bogotá, this restaurant chain has multiple locations across the city, offering a diverse selection of delicious dishes at prices that are deemed reasonable for Bogotá standards. So no matter which Bogota neighborhood you choose to stay in there is probably a location near by. The menu features a variety of options from Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Chinese, and Japanese cuisines. It’s also a reliable choice for accommodating vegetarians or vegans, with several appetizing dishes and sushi selections available.
Canoa
A very nice, popular option in Chapinero Alto. You may need to book ahead and you will need to get cleaned up and wear decent clothes.
Chicken Wings
Buffalo Wings
Buffalo Wings not only serves some of the best chicken wings in Bogota, but they also boast the most delicious nachos I’ve ever experienced!
Ugly American Bar and Grill
Renowned for its exceptional service and welcoming staff, this establishment is always prepared to assist you. The fair prices are sure to appeal to you. The charming decor and delightful ambiance create a relaxing atmosphere for guests.
Hamburgers
Home Burgers
They offer straightforward options like basic hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and a veggie burger. You have the choice to customize with additions like cheese, pickles, onion, and bacon. Despite the simplicity, I consider them the best burgers in the city, and they come at a reasonable price. The locations in El Nogal (Cra 9 with 81) and Chapinero Alto (Cra 5 with 70a) are relatively small and bustling during lunchtime; securing a seat might be a stroke of luck. The one in Centro Internacional (Traversal 6 with Calle 27) is somewhat tucked away but provides more seating compared to the other two.
La Hamburguesería
A popular burger establishment that has earned my repeat visits, especially at the locations in Parque de la 93, Usaquén, and Chapinero Alto. They offer excellent burgers, including four diverse vegetarian options, all at reasonable prices.
Other Favorite Places to Eat In Bogota
Sr. KIM
Sr. KIM presents a comfortable setting, offering genuine Korean cuisine in Bogotá. The atmosphere is inviting and ideal for a laid-back lunch or dinner with friends and family. The interior design is simple yet neat, accommodating up to 14 people.
Despite being a fine dining establishment, Sr. KIM maintains an affordable price range, with dishes averaging around 16,000 pesos. Its convenient location makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a swift and delicious meal in the city.
El Inglés Gastro Pub
One of the best restaurants in Bogota in a trendy spot in Quinta Camacho that offers a complete English breakfast or a Sunday roast, allowing you to enjoy sporting matches on the television while sipping on a beer! Operating from 9 am to 4 pm every day, except during bank holiday weekends (puentes or festivos).
